Was That God?

The other day I was driving in the left lane of a four lane road. There was a stoplight up ahead but it was green. I was pretty much on autopilot. I was doing about 48mph, slightly above the posted 45. There was a car in front of me, going about the same speed, and a car to my right, which I was slowly passing.
Suddenly, without any warning, the brake lights of the car in front came on. At the green stop light, which I was prepared to buzz through, for some stupide reason, he came to a complete stop! I was immediately off autopilot, couldn't go right--car there--with my foot on the brake, I was trying to stop as fast as I could but I could tell it wouldn't be enough; I was doomed to rear end the guy in front. Braking wouldn't be enough. I jerked to the left and, missing his rear bumper probably by inches, I whizzed through the green light.
That was the weirdest thing ever. Why did he stop----I checked the rear view mirror. A police car with lights flashing was now going through the intersection from the right. I hadn't seen him. The car in front of me did.
Wow! What luck! Due to my quick reflexes and skilled driving I had avoided rear-ending the guy in front and at the same time, avoided a collision with the police car.
Once my heart slowed down from the adrenaline input, I reflected on the whole scene. Wait a minute! Was that God? Did he actually orchestrate that whole interaction? Is that what his interventions/miracles actually look like? Like something I did through my own effort?
It WAS him! I admitted it. When he acts in our lives, it's rarely with bells and whistles and fan fare. It actually looks pretty normal. Not a miracle at all. And yet....it was a miracle I didn't crash into one of those two cars. I think I'll chalk this one up to God.
Most of his miracles look like every day events. That's why we miss so many of them. This whole miracle made me realize I need to be far more grateful for the "ordinary miracles."
